I received this title at the 2024 Arts and Crafts Fair, and I value it because it was conferred upon me by my peers—other artisans in jewelry and fine jewelry. It validates an artisanal career by looking at the quality of the pieces, their design, and commercial success proven by a sufficient period of activity, but also at how the artisan transmits and promotes the reach of this craft. This can be done in various ways: hosting interns before their high school diploma or during vocational training, teaching through workshops, or presenting the craft at exhibitions, fairs, or venues dedicated to showcasing artisanal trades. The artisan prepares a portfolio retracing their professional history. It’s a very interesting process to go through: in my case, a look back at 36 years of jewelry creation!
